St Lucia to & back Toowong?

Today, we walk, I walk AGAIN!!! after the exhausting journey to QU BOOKS!!! my muscle is still screaming in pain!! gosh! i should vonlunteer to go when i just want to buy a 2L milk which i can buy it at the g!rocery shop nearby!! argh....!

Eaman suggested us to walk to TOOWONG from our house ^^ ( lose weight time! muahahah)
Thanks Eaman for you generousness....let me to wear you shoes, so that i dont have to go the back door to find my slipers....and the shoes are cute ^^

OYea, the car driver!!! oMG! i know we're doing sth bad...(yea, we're not suppose to...anyway)
But, can u imagine how 3 small size girls carry so many things??!!

Sometimes i wonder, how people live? what kindo of life they have? is it same as me?

I'm trying hard to lead a happy life here! but always surrender to L-A-Z-I-N-E-S-S!

Everyday wondering what should i eat?

should i hang out with friends? but then i will waste my money!

I'm not the kind of socialise person.....but sometimes i just wanna go out N have fun!

Whenever people ask me out, it always reminds me that..."a..i should some my private time with myself...==" weird huh? Then a big NO0ooooo will boom towards my friends~

Life is simple, but whenever we try to lead a simple life, it gets complicated.

Hundred miles accomplished!!!!

OMG!!!! guys!!! after the gruelling penang bridge marathon on 2008, this is the first time i walked for so long!!! (but of course, in the marathon i ran...not walk! muahaahha)

I walked from brisbane street ( which is my house) to Campbell street ( to QU books!)!!!

How long is it??? is just like from my house ( for those who dont know, seberang jaya ^^) to em...jasco?? Im not exaggerating!!! Luckily today is a windy day...or else, oh my...i dont know am i gonna walk so far...somemore carry those thick and hardcover textbooks!!!

Some might wonder why i dont i just take a bus??

haha...actually i walked purposely, because i felt gulity after eating the big pack of chips. It's yummy and kinda cheap anyway! hehe.....

So, i guess...the walk to QU books and back....hopefully will at least burn half of the calories obtained from the stupid chips! ISH~~!

A terrible Breakfast....

I have to confess...I am a really lazy person ( or everyone knows that? ==)

I try not to cook as hard as i can! because u have to clean up everything after u cooked!! that's exhausting!

SO, I eat salad, bread, fruits or chips!

Sometimes, just a glass of milk with some cereal....( i think that's a good breakfast though..==)

BUT, today! Im trying to make some hot and warm breakfast...to let my poor stomach feel better! so i bought a instant pasta yesterday! encourged by Erika ^^

so, i followed the intrustion , add hot water, milk, butter........

Then put into the mircowaver for 8 min...waiting desperately...hoping that finally i have sth hot to eat for breakfast...

i dont know how to explain how my pasta become, i still feel very depressed rite now..

Market Day

The biggest event in UQ ( in my opinion..==..)! It started at 10am to 12pm!!

U will regret if you don't go!!

Market day is actually the day that all the society and clubs in UQ will "come out" and seek for the new members! There will be over 50 or even 100 booths!! and also! whole UQ students are there have fun on the markey day!

For those who like free stuff, it's the place for U! HAHA

Free drinks, food, card and more!!

There are some ativities too!

I got a free optus sim card , $10 credit, which i kind of feel proud of it! haha XD

I found one thing that was interesting...was that they have sex society and i got some free , diferent kind of flovur condoms..== haha...(even though i wont got a chance to use it..! )

and there're bands singing there, which i think is quite good, his voice are amazing...

I love band anyway.. ^^

HOnestly, i kinda enjoy the market day...and is really fun if you have many friends go with u!

i only have one,...dearest LISA..thanks for accompanied me even just for awhile...

but she doesnt look like enjoying the atmostphere there...sad..

I managed to join some clubs..which i feel regret now...'cause you have to pay for it..

I joined KOrean society and Malaysian society...and each of them cost me $10! .....WTH!

Guys, u know how serious im into Korean stuff la! muahaah

I don't think this is alcoholic 'cause i cant feel it...it seems just like some healty drink..dont think too much! >.<

Church & Korean Food!!!

TOday, Sun. i have nothing to do....really bored...sleepy...

So, i decided to join Becky to the Church...( i nvr been to church before..and im kinda curious about what they do in the church) ^^

I clap my hands while they're singing...It's lively.

I can see how truly Christians they are...

Next, we headed to the city! to have our dinner...

The Dinner

The night after my dad left, i was invited by Becky to have dinner together with others at Adam's place. I met many new people there, like Andrew, Dax, Chris , SUzana and so on. All from different countries ...haha.. seems like a international dinner ..== They are really nice! and Suzana is really funny! she looks just like A SA (member of twins)!!!! and she was like really excited when people tell her that.== Btw, the laugh of Suzana and Arica is not kidding!! they can laugh really loud! ==lll After dinner, we played some games, and they play prank on Ray! it was extremely funny man!! god!!! i cant stop laughing!!! haha XD

At the end of the game, they sing CHristian songs...and this is the first time i join this kind of ...event...so i felt a bit weird about that. BUt is good to learn others' religion.

Lastly, yeah!! Mt COO TA! we went to MT COO TA to see the beautiful night view of brisbane! Unfortunately, rain mai visit us...sob, because of the rain, we have to go to a coffee shop, sit down and buy some coffee..but i enjoy that! chit chat and we play games again...haha XD

IT's shopping time!

After moved in to my room in St Lucia, my dad and i decided to buy some stuff! So.....we headed to TOOWONG VILLAGE!

It's not that big, compare to penang...but still got 3/4 floors and one ground floor..but i still think it is not as big as queenslany and gurney in penang ...hehe.

Before we actually start to buy, we have our lunch (or dinner? ) there. I got the cheapest food..hand roll sushi!

how much do you think it cost? ^^is quite reasonable , the price.

My dad had this, i think is unagi...about $6 sth?...it ok..

BUT! when my dad saw we just eating with the hand roll...adui~~ you should eat more!!! SO, we have another round. eat again! but we share la of course! hehe

it's the large portion one, and it's nice!know what is this? potato!!!! BIG , right? no wonder my mum says i will get fat if i live in AUS ==

At the end, we're really really FULL!!! cant even walk!! OMG!! But, we still have to walk mah..haha XD to coles! It's like a market...like carefour or giant...things there are cheap!

Getting Started Session

Today, early in the morning, my dad left, back to Malaysia. I was surprisingly sad, felt like crying. I thought I can live in any place besides Malaysia happily, I will meet lots of friends here just like what how I did in Malaysia. I regret to come to Australia study alone even though people are really friendly here, maybe that just because I’m shy. Hope it will be better.

After sending my dad to airport, I quickly came back to city to seek help with my mobile as it still can’t access Internet. Haha, but I was lost in the city! Walked out from the Central Railway Station, I thought I know the way to 3 mobile shop ( which I juz went there with my dad yesterday!) . I round and round in the city, ask and ask people, finally get there to solve my problem. Then I catch a 412 bus back to St Lucia, and tidy up my unpacked stuffs.

Wao! It’s 1030am! My getting started session is at11am!!!Oh NO!!! The worst is I don’t know where is Goddard Building!! ( UQ is really big you know~) Luckily I met a girl from Norway, Johannes, she is heading the same place, without her, maybe I won’t know the way and surely will miss the session!

Getting started session is for new students in UQ. The UQ staff there, Marry( if I’m not mistaken) is kinda funny. She actually somewhat comfort me ….( I mean I was sad that time as my dad already left, u know.) She brief us about ..erm..like when and where is our orientation will be held at…how to get a go card, life in Brisbane, how go to GOLD COAST and tones of information!

GOT my NEW MOBILE!

HURRAY!!!! yeah man!!! muahahah!!!! THanks to 3 mobile i got a free handset and 1G internet modem and 2 months of free access to mobile internet! yeah!

However, i think i was really an idoit that time! gosh!! i should choose sony ericsson!!!! not NOKIA!! *sigh*...i still like my sony ericsson which i used it last year..the camera is better!! even though they both have the same, 2MP, but sony ericsson is much better!!!!!!!!

I LoVE u , my sony ericsson!!! even you always switch off suddenly...i still think you're the best!!

STUDENT STUPID ID CARD ==

I was cheated my the staff in JM Education!!!! Hooi Ting told me that I should bring at least 12 pieces of my passport size photos with me, just in case! Wth! When I get my student ID , it just need my student number and ask me to sit down, “KAZAK” snap a stupid photo of mine, then is DONE!!!! I not even ready yet! What the hell!! I waste RM22 (eventhough just $7 here, but is expensive!) to get the 12 pieces of my photos in Malaysia for what?!

Btw, maybe some might wanna have a look at my pic? Is really really stupid!! I didn’t even know they were snapping my photo that time!!! GOSH! SO no pic then!! HAHA XD

My very first DAY in BRISBANE!

The weather in Brisbane is quite hot in feb. It’s summer anyway. I am excited!! Really looking forward to study at here.

So, we took a taxi to Indooroopilly, to my motel, ( Inoodooroopilly Lodge & Motel) But, when we went there, my dad wasn’t satisfied with the place..erm…it’s kinda..”old”. But is really cheap! $190 included breakfast and dinner ( Mon to Fri) and is quite convenient. Still, my dad face didn’t look so happy. *sigh*

The rest of that day was quite messed up. NOT SURE WHERE TO GO..But that day was my luckiest day! Coz I met a group of senior which is really nice ( though they are Christian, I mean is OK with me). They helped us to find accommodation near St Lucia around $150-$200 online and fetched us to see the rooms.

Last I decided to stay in a room in Brisbane street! The room is quite nice, and em.kinda big, Im sharing that house with a malay girl from Maldive(really a wonderful place to visit! I mean the country! She is so lucky!). But I think there will another 2 girls moving in next week.

WHAT I HAVE TO DO

Accommodation
U can rent a room in St Lucia which is nearby UQ, it’s very convenient. Price will be around $150-$200. Just search it online (.) But, those areas that are not nearby st lucia such as Indooroopilly, Taringa and Toowoong will be much cheaper. Oyea, sunny also not a bad place, even though it is quite far from UQ about 40 min by bus, but u will get a room about $115/week including gas, electricity and internet! (Information by Paul ). Btw, sunnybank will have most chinese stay there. If U’re through agent, they might recommend u to residential colleges that are near to UQ, or some off-campus accommodation with really good facilities such as gym, swimming pool and so on, that might be a little more expensive. Depends~! I will choose the cheapest one!

Transport Service
Oyea, in Brisbane, the transport service is good, don’t worry! For students, you can do a Concession Go Card as long as you have you student card, or if you don’t have it yet, just tell the drive u’re a student. U will get 50% off! For more information go to this website translink Brisbane. There are many ways to st lucia, ferry, trains(I think) and bus of course. A go card will do for all the service! Just remember to touch on and off at your trip!

Bank Acc
I opened Commonwealth bank acc (recommended by Adam J) for UQ student . It is in St Lucia Campus so it will be very easy and SAFE. There are other banks in Brisbane such as Bank of Queensland, Westpac, nab and so on. But, Commonwealth is the one for me! n_n the interest is high anyway.

Mobile
I was told that if you want a free handset, get 3 mobile! Sign up for a $29 cap package and choose your own free mobile. It’s cheap for those who are thinking of changing their mobile! Everyone is using 3, so you can save a lot!

INTRO

Hi guys. Casey’s here. For some who know me before I come to Aus will better know me as Hippo. J In this blog, I am going upload all about my life in Brisbane. For some who are interested about my life, or coming to Brisbane (especially for study) you might want to have a look at this blog.

I am a Malaysia study in UQ. I came to Aus on 15 Feb 2010 ( the 2nd day of Chinese new year, how sad was it…L, cant celebrate my new year at my home town). I came here with my dad at first, he stayed with me for about 5 days. Thanks for him, I got lots of my stuff settled now. He stayed in Brisbane city, George William Hotel aka YMCA which only takes few minute walks to Queen street mall (tourist spot). It’s nice there, though I don’t really know which way to go till now. J I stayed with him for the 5 days…as you know, a hotel will always better than any place else…so why don’t i?
